Tax Services

Tax Services works to minimize the University’s tax liability and ensure compliance of the University’s tax withholding and reporting obligations.  We serve as an internal tax advisor to central administrative units, consult with campus personnel and affiliates to resolve tax issues specific to departmental needs, manage audit requests by external tax authorities, and offer training to students and departmental staff to assist them with processes and reporting requirements.

The department primarily oversees and prepares tax returns and tax exemption forms, makes tax determinations on nonqualified fellowship awards, and researches various tax issues.

Dear campus GLACIER users,  

Please read this important message from UC Merced Tax Services regarding the implementation of two-factor authentication (2FA) for both the Arctic International GLACIER NRA Tax Compliance system and GLACIER Tax Prep (GTP)

UC Merced has enabled 2FA for all GLACIER accounts to enhance security and comply with UC cybersecurity protocols.

The Office of the Controller receives numerous requests for exceptions to policy every week. We would like to reiterate that exceptions to policy should be infrequent in nature and must align to a bona fide University business purpose.

A message from Accounts Payable, Tax & Payment Services:

If you need to have invoices, payment requests and wire transfers processed before the curtailment period, please submit your request by Wednesday, Dec. 13. Depending on the request, additional approvals may be needed to complete processing.

An announcement from Associate Vice Chancellor and Controller Amanda Preston-Nelson:

We are happy to announce the appointment of two directors in the Division of Finance and Administration’s Business and Financial Services. Christie Harvey, who has held several key roles at UC Merced, has been named Director of Accounts Payable, Travel and Tax. Carol Dinuzzo, a Merced native with an extensive background in financial management, has joined the university as Director of Financial and Accounting Services.
