I am pleased to announce the appointment of Melissa Tessier as Director of Student Billing Services and Campus Cashiering.
Melissa, who has worked for UC Merced since 2016, has a proven track record of providing valuable guidance and managing dynamic teams in finance and information technology. As a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt in process improvement, she delivers effective strategic roadmaps for operational refinements.
In her last two roles as Director and Lead of Financial Systems Support, Melissa has been a key player in elevating user experiences in Oracle Cloud Financials and the ServiceNow portal. She has been a centerpiece in project management for numerous initiatives that help the campus community navigate financial processes.
Before her time on the Financial Systems Support team, Melissa served for four years as a Senior IT Project Manager for the university. Prior to her roles at UC Merced, Melissa worked for 14 years in the banking industry, holding positions ranging from Systems Analyst to Assistant Vice President.
In this new leadership role, Melissa, who will report directly to me, will manage two teams that maintain UC Merced student accounts and collect monies due to the university.
Student Billing Services is responsible for the assessment and billing in areas such as tuition, fees, dining and housing, and other term-related charges, along with the collection of past-due accounts. The team also is responsible for processing student/parent refunds and facilitating the timely collection and reporting of student, departmental and third-party sponsor income streams.
In addition to collections, Campus Cashiering Services supports students/parents and ensures payments are received and applied accurately to accounts in a timely manner, along with providing services to stakeholders such as receipting deposits and recording of university monies.
