I am pleased to announce that Emily Bustos has accepted an appointment to the newly created role of Executive Director of Payroll Services, Workforce Administration and Human Capital Management Systems.
Emily, a seasoned payroll professional, has more than 15 years of background in improving University of California customer service experiences through developing organizational efficiencies and enhancing online services. She will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing strategic initiatives that support UC Merced’s mission of education, research and public service.
Emily, currently the Executive Director of Financial Systems Support, has worked at UC Merced for 17 years. Starting in 2013, she spent five years in two high-visibility roles – Director of Payroll Services and the university’s Project Manager for UCPath, the UC-wide self-service portal for employee information.
As the leader of the FSS team since 2019, Emily played a central role in the implementation of the Oracle Financial Cloud and budget system, migrating UC Merced’s data from the UCLA system and converting to the Common Chart of Accounts.
Emily is uniquely suited for this challenge. I look forward to continuing to benefit from her leadership and counsel. She will assume the new role on Jan. 1, 2024.
